PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – William & Mary men's tennis suffered a setback at Ivy League foe and No. 51-ranked Penn, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Hecht Tennis Centers.
How It Happened
- The Tribe (4-5) dropped a close double point as Penn picked up a narrow tiebreaker win, 7-6 (4), at the top spot. Graduate student Daniel Pelleritto and sophomore
Alexander Karman posted W&M's lone doubles win, topping Baylor Sai and Zachery Lim, 6-3, at No. 3. It was the pair's second win of the season.
- The Quarters (5-4) posted straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 to secure the team victory.
- Pellerito battled to a third set at No. 6. After dropping the opening set, he responded with a 6-3 victory in the second over Kian Vakili. The Penn freshman pulled out the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-6.
- At the top spot, senior
George Davis dropped a tough three-setter to Kevin Zhu, who has been ranked in the top 100 nationally during his career. Davis battled back from a set deficit to win the second, 6-4, but Zhu claimed the match in the third.

The Tribe travels to the western part of Virginia for a pair of road matches next week. W&M travels to Radford on Friday, March 3, at 3 p.m., before heading to James Madison on Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m.
