Relentless Offense Pushes Tribe Past Marist

WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- An offensive barrage pushed William & Mary past Marist 16-4 at Plumeri Park Friday afternoon. Max Winters delivered 5 RBI on three hits, while Joe Delossantos scored five times and stole three bases with a pair of hits on his own.

Ben Williamson filled the stat sheet with four runs scored, three driven in, and a pair of hits. As a whole the Tribe stole seven bases.

Tom Mayer picked up the win allowing just one hit over the first three innings of the game. Zach Tsakounis was terrific in relief providing the Tribe with 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and zero earned runs.

Marist got on the board early, plating a pair in the top of the first. The Red Foxes had the first three men in the lineup all reach to load up the bases. Mayer would get a pair of grounders and a strikeout, but a run would score on each of the ground balls to give the visitors an early lead.

William & Mary wasted no time answering in the bottom half with a four-spot to go ahead. The Tribe would take advantage of three free passes and a pair of two-RBI singles off the bats of Max Winters and Noah Zertuche to quickly take the lead. The Green and Gold tacked on in the second as Lucas Carmichael produced an RBI groundout and Winters delivered another RBI single to make it 6-2.

Joe Delossantos led off the fourth with a single, and the Tribe would take advantage of four free passes in the inning to plate two more runs, another off the bat of Winters to extend the lead to 8-2.

Charlie Iriotakis led off what would become a five-run fifth for the Tribe and scored as the next three batters walked. Two runners would score via the wild pitch and Winters would double knocking in his fifth RBI of the day. Jerry Barnes III made it a 13-2 game with a sac fly to deep left.

Marist would take advantage of a William & Mary miscue to score an unearned run in the sixth. Singles from Iriotakis and Nick Lottchea, a double from Delossantos, and another single off the bat of Ben Williamson would plate three more for the Tribe in the sixth.

The Red Foxes would plate a run in the eighth, but Bobby McDonough would work a clean ninth inning to secure the win 16-4 win
