Men's Tennis Battles Tough in Setback to Old Dominion

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Graduate student Daniel Pellerito and sophomore Sean Joseph posted singles wins, but the Tribe suffered a 5-2 setback to rival Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.

How It Happened
- Old Dominion claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
- After a victory at No. 4 singles increased ODU's lead to 2-0, Joseph got W&M on the board with a triumph on line five. He topped Jakob Cadonau in straight sets, 7-6 (3), 6-1, to draw the Tribe within 2-1. It was Joseph's fourth-straight win as he improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in dual-match action.
- Three of the remaining four matches went to three sets. The Monarchs extended their lead to 3-1 with a three-set win at No. 1. Senior George Davis responded from a set deficit to force a third, but Youndes Lalami picked up the win for the visitor.
- Pellerito picked up a three-set win to briefly close the gap to 3-2. After dropping the first set to Yanis Moundir, the Tribe graduate student dropped just five games in the final two to pick up a 6-2, 6-3 victory. He improved to 8-5 on the year.
- At the No. 3 spot, graduate student Andres Silva jumped out to a set advantage, winning the first from Codie van Schalkwyk, 6-3. The ODU player rallied to win the final two sets and secure the team victory.
- Francois Le Tallec rounded out the Monarchs' win with a nail-biting victory over Joseph Brailovsky, 7-5, 7-6 (2), at No. 2.
