W&M opened its season with a 41-24 victory at Charlotte last week, as the Tribe secured its first FBS win since defeating Virginia in 2009. In addition to scoring its most points against an FBS opponent since 1998, W&M piled up 559 total yards and 303 rushing yards. Quarterback Darius Wilson led the offensive attack and was honored as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after accounting for a career-high 292 yards of total offense, including a career-high 225 through the air with two touchdowns. Defensively, W&M held Charlotte to just seven points in the second half, and none in the fourth quarter, as linebacker John Pius posted a career-high nine tackles with 4.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks.
Campbell also opened its season with a win last week and defeated The Citadel, 29-10, in Buies Creek, N.C. The Camels out-gained the Bulldogs 373-222 and averaged 6.2 yards per play. Linebacker CJ Tillman led the defensive effort and was selected as the Big South Defensive Player of the Week after recording 11 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Saturday's game will mark the first meeting between W&M and Campbell. The Camels fielded a team from 1925-50 as a junior college before reinstating the program in 2008.
