Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks High Point, 1-0

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Freshman Madison Moon scored her first collegiate goal and the William & Mary women's soccer team posted its second-straight shutout win, downing defending Big South Champion High Point, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Coupled with its 1-0 win over Old Dominion on Thursday night, the Tribe recorded its second-straight victory over an NCAA Tournament team form last season and evened its season record at 2-2.

Freshmen Ivey Crain and Moon combined on the goal in the 65th minute to provide the Tribe with all the scoring it would need. Eluding defenders through the midfield, Crain sliced a pass down the middle of the pitch to a wide open Moon. Making her first collegiate start, the freshman striker touched into the box and slotted a shot into the back of the net past a rushing High Point goalkeeper. The assist was also Crain's first.

The Tribe defense held strong for the second-straight game, recording the clean sheet. Senior goalkeeper Zoe Doughty had a pair a saves to notch her seventh career shutout.

High Point outshot W&M, 8-6, on the afternoon, but both teams put two shots on frame. The Panthers registered nine corner kicks compared to one for the Tribe.

Quotable
"We had a tough time in the first half, and I thought we played well in second half.  We are happy to come away with the win, especially with a tough win against ODU on Thursday.  The team kept the ball better, and Ivey and Moonie connected on a beautiful goal.  Shoutouts to our game changers who all came in and gave valuable minutes.  Bridget Fitzpatrick made some key plays for us down the stretch." Head Coach Julie Shackford
