Lax Falls to Drexel on Senior Day

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team fell to Drexel, 21-10, on Senior Day at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
 
Although the contest was knotted at 6-6 early in the second quarter, Drexel (7-5, 2-0) utilized a 10-0 run to pull ahead. 
 
While W&M (4-8, 0-2) responded with three unanswered goals to narrow the margin to 16-9 late in the third quarter, it was unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
 
Tribe Standouts
Freshman Serena Jacobs led the Tribe with four goals on just five shots, while freshman Sam Van Gieson found the back of the cage on both her shots. 
 
Sophomore Caroline Hertzberg posted a team-high five draw controls with three ground balls, while junior Caroline Donovan tallied a pair of caused turnovers with a goal. 
 
Inside the Numbers
Drexel outshot the Tribe, 43-30, which included a 32-24 margin in shots on goal.
 
Drexel also owned narrow advantages in draw controls (19-16) and ground balls (22-19), while both teams committed 13 turnovers apiece. 

The Opposition
Lucy Schneidereith led Drexel with six points (5g, 1a), while Karson Harris (4g, 1a), Corinne Bednarik (3g, 2a) and Colleen Grady (3g, 2a) totaled five points apiece. Bednarik and Harris added seven and five draw controls, respectively. 
 
Goalie Zoe Bennett posted 14 saves and a .583 save percentage.

W&M will return to action when it continues its conference slate at Delaware next Saturday.
