WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- The long ball plagued the Tribe in a 10-0 loss to UNCW Saturday at Plumeri Park. The Seahawks hit four homers and the home team could not figure out the visiting staff in the loss. The two teams split the first two games of the series and will meet for a rubber match tomorrow.
David Hogarth had a pair of hits in the game and
Cole Ragone continued his hitting streak with a double.
Adam Quintero and
Nick Lottchea both had hits off the bench.
For the second straight game, the Seahawks jumped out front with a lead off homer in the top of the first. UNCW would strike again with another solo shot in the second inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
After a one, two, three inning from Tribe starter
Casey Green, the Seahawks would again use the long ball to do damage. A one out hit batter would be followed by UNCW's third homer in three innings to give the visitors a 4-0 advantage. The visitors once again took advantage of a pair of hits, scoring three times in the fifth and plated another in the sixth.
A two-out, two-run homer for UNCW in the seventh would extend the advantage for the visitors. The Tribe loaded the bases in the eighth but could not chip away at the Seahawk lead.
Justin Pearson worked a scoreless eighth, and
Garrett Casey threw a clean ninth for the Tribe.
UP NEXT: The two teams will meet for the weekend rubber match Sunday afternoon.
