Men's Tennis Sweeps Drexel, 7-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis swept Colonial Athletic Association foe Drexel, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon. The Tribe (10-5) won for the seventh time in its last eight matches while running its league record to 3-0.
 
The Green and Gold won the doubles point for the 10th time this season with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Graduate student Harrison Brown and junior George Davis dropped just one game in winning their seventh match in a row at the top spot, downing Xandy Hammitt and Alex de Sousa, 6-1. The pair is 16-4 overall and 10-4 at No. 1.
 
Graduate student Finbar Talcott and senior Daniel Pellerito clinched the point with a tiebreaker win on line three, 7-6 (2) over Gustav Wogen and Djordje Janackovic. The Tribe duo improved to 12-5 with its ninth dual-match win.
 
Freshman Sean Joseph and Talcott won in quick fashion in singles to extend the Tribe cushion to 3-0. Joseph dominated at No. 6, rolling past Juan Manuel Sanchez, 6-0, 6-1, for his second-straight win. Talcott notched his 10th win of the year, dropping just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Gustav Wogen at No. 5.
 
Graduate student Sebastian Quiros clinched the Tribe victory with a triumph at No. 3. He dropped Sanil Jagtiani, 6-3, 6-1, to improve to 13-7 on the year.
 
Senior Joseph Brailovsky also improved to 13-7 on the year with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Matvey Radionov at No. 4.
 
Davis and Brown rounded out the Tribe sweep with wins at the top two posts. Davis topped Xandy Hammitt, 6-3, 7-6 (4), for his ninth win of the year and fifth at No. 1. Brown needed three sets, but dispatched Alex de Sousa, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-7, to run his season mark to 16-5.
 
Up Next: The Tribe returns to action on Saturday, April 2, when it welcomes No. 70 UTSA to Williamsburg. The match carries a 1 p.m. start time and will serve as the Tribe's Senior Day as well as its Alumni Weekend.
