CHARLESTON, S.C. – William & Mary women's tennis dropped a tough 4-3 match at Charleston to close out its Spring Break trip on Saturday afternoon.
With the match even at two, it all came down to a trio of three-set tilts at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4. After a Cougars win at No. 2, junior
Raffaela Alhach rallied from a set deficit and dominated in the third in topping Kate Earnhart, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, to pull the Tribe even at three. It marked her 13th win of the season.
Charleston (12-5, 2-0 CAA), who downed Big Ten foe Indiana on Friday, won at the top singles spot in three sets to claim the victory. The Cougars ran their win streak to eight.

Mila Saric and freshman
Hedda Gurholt won their third in a row, 6-2, over Halli Trinkle and Slade Coetzee at the top spot to give W&M the early lead. They extended their mark to 7-4.
The junior tandem of Alhach and
Elisa Van Meeteren clinched the point for the Green and Gold for the third-straight match. The duo topped Kate Earnhardt and Clara Errard, 6-2, at No. 2. The pair improved to 7-4 on the year and 6-3 on line two.
Freshmen
Ine Stange and
Emma Fernald rounded out the sweep with a 7-5 win over Maja Jekauc and Elizabeth Nowak at No. 3. The Tribe pair upped its record to 4-3 with its second win in a row.
Fernald quickly pushed the Tribe lead to 2-0 with a convincing win at No. 6 singles. She dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Errard. The Tribe rookie won her third in a row and improved to 13-8 on the year.
Up Next: The Tribe returns home to take on Drexel as part of a men's and women's tennis doubleheader on Tuesday, March 22. The women's match kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts with the men to follow.
