GREENVILLE, N.C. - William & Mary women's tennis blanked East Carolina, 4-0, to open its Spring Break trip on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Green and Gold (4-6) captured the doubles point with wins at the top two positions, before senior Mila Saric and freshmen Hedda Gurholt and Emma Fernald posted singles wins to lift the Tribe to victory.
 
In doubles, Saric and Gurholt gave the Tribe an early lead with a 6-3 win over Alisha Hussain and Ines Bachir at the top post. Juniors Raffaela Alhach and Elisa Van Meeteren clinched the initial point of the match for the second time this season, upending Sofia Cerezo Holgado and Alisa Diercksen, 7-5, on line two. Both Tribe teams improved to 5-4 on the year.
 
Fresh of earning a national singles ranking of No. 81, Saric won her third-straight match at the top post. She dropped just two games in making quick work of Diercksen, 6-1, 6-1. Saric improved to 17-4 overall and 7-2 at No. 1.
 
Gurholt followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Martina Muzzolon to increase the Tribe advantage to 3-0. The Tribe rookie moved to 16-7 on the year and 7-3 in dual-match action.
 
At No. 6, Fernald notched her first career clincher, dropping just three games to top Anne Lou Champion, 6-3, 6-0. She upped her ledger to 11-8 overall and 5-4 in dual-match action.
