Men's Tennis Handles Temple for Fifth-Straight Win

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis won for the second time in as many days and ran its win streak to five with a 6-1 win over American Athletic Conference foe Temple on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
 
The Tribe (8-4) swept the doubles for the eighth time in the last nine games and followed with five singles victories, all in straight-sets.
 
In doubles, graduate student Finbar Talcott and senior Daniel Pellerito gave W&M with early lead in doubles with their fifth-straight win on line three. The duo improved to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in dual-match play with a 6-2 win over Louis Gorregues and Hussein El Tawil.
 
Graduate student Harrison Brown and junior George Davis clinched the point with a 6-3 victory over Jericho Grollman and Gregoire Barety at No. 1. The pair moved to 13-5 overall and 7-4 on the top line.
 
Senior Joseph Brailovsky and graduate student Chen Ruo rounded out the sweep with their 10th-straight win at No. 2. The Tribe duo is an impressive 16-2 overall and 10-1 in dual-match play.
 
After Temple (5-4) picked up a singles, Talcott gave the Tribe the lead for good with a dominating win at No. 6. He dropped just one game in winning his fifth match in a row over El Tawil. Talcott is 9-2 on the year.
 
Brown and Brailovsky won at No. 2 and No. 5 to secure the Tribe victory. Brown dropped just three games in downing Leo Raquin, 6-1, 6-2, while Brailovsky provided the clincher, 6-1, 6-4 over Grollman. Both players won their fifth match in a row, while Brown improved to 15-4 and Brailovsky to 11-6.
 
Davis evened his record at the top singles position with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Louis Gorregues.
 
Graduate student  Sebastian Quiros rounded out the Tribe victory with his second win of the season, topping Gregoire Barety, 7-5, 6-3, on line three.
