Men's Tennis Extends Win Streak to Four with Victory over Navy

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis won its fourth in a row, upending Navy, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
 
The Tribe (7-4) swept doubles for the seventh time in the last eight matches and won five singles contests overall, including four in straight sets, to down the Midshipmen (16-6).
 
In doubles, the Tribe's top team of graduate student Harrison Brown and junior George Davis got the Tribe off to a good start with a 6-4 win over Gavin Segraves and Derrick Thompson. It was the pair's third-straight win as they improved to 12-5 overall and 6-4 at the top spot.
 
The Green and Gold won a pair of tiebreakers at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots for the sweep. Graduate student Chen Ruo and senior Joseph Brailovsky extended their win streak to nine to clinch the initial point of the match. The duo is 15-2 overall and 9-1 on line two. Graduate student Finbar Talcott and senior Daniel Pellerito won their 10th overall and fourth in a row at No. 3 to round out the sweep.
 
Talcott continued his strong play since returning from injury, winning his fourth singles match in a row at No. 5. He dropped just three games against Sasha Panya to improve to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in duals.
 
The Tribe secured the match with convincing straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Graduate student Sebastian Quiros dropped only three games in posting his 10th win of the year, this time on line two.
 
Brown clinched the W&M team victory with his fourth-straight triumph, downing Thompson, 6-4, 6-1. Brown improved to 14-4 overall and is 2-0 at No. 1.
 
Brailovsky and senior Jack Kelly round out the Tribe win with victories at No. 3 and No. 4. Kelly won in three-sets over Jake Fishkin, 6-3, 1-6, 10-6, on line three for his fifth win in a row, while Brailovksy posted his fourth-straight win and 10th overall, upending Jack McBride, 6-3, 6-4, on line three.
 
Up Next: The Tribe returns to action on Sunday when it welcomes Temple to the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center at noon.
