WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – In a rematch of last season's thrilling CAA semifinal, William & Mary men's tennis turned in a strong performance to start the 2022 conference season in a 7-0 sweep of league rival Elon on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
W&M (2-3) opened the match by winning all three doubles matches. The Tribe's top team of junior
George Davis and
Harrison Brown gave the Tribe the early advantage, upending Daniel Martin and Chung-Han Tsai, 6-4. Davis and Brown improved to 8-4 on the season.
At No. 2, senior
Joseph Brailovsky and graduate student
Chen Ruo won the final three games in clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Nicholas Condos and Nicholas Campbell. The Tribe duo won their third straight and improved to 9-2 on the year.

Daniel Pellerito rounded out the Tribe sweep with a 6-3 win over Kyle Frankel and Camilo Pounce on line three.

Jack Kelly won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 to increase the W&M lead to 3-0. Quiros won his second-straight match, upending Condos, 6-3, 7-5, while Kelly notched his first dual-match victory with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Ponce.
The Tribe won five of the six opening sets, but the balance of the match came down to a quartet of three-set matches at No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6.
Ruo, who dropped the opening set to Tsai, 6-2, rallied to clinch the Green and Gold victory. In his first dual-match action of the season, Ruo won the final two sets, 6-4, 6-4, to give W&M the win.
Davis and Brailovsky won third-set tiebreakers to post wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions, respectively. Davis knocked off All-CAA First Team selection from last season Kyle Frankel in three sets, while Brailovsky downed Martin. Both Tribe players picked up their sixth wins overall and second in dual-match play.
After splitting the first two sets in tiebreakers, Brown rounded out the Tribe sweep, winning in a third-set super tiebreaker over Campbell, 10-8. He upped his team-best singles mark to 9-3.
