WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis rolled to a 7-0 win over in-state foe Longwood for its first victory of the 2022 campaign on Friday evening at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
The Tribe swept doubles to open the match. Senior

Chen Ruo won their second straight, dropping just one game in a 6-1 win over Guillermo Cagigas and Yoav Weinberg on line two. Graduate student

George Davis clinched the doubles point, winning the final two games at the top spot to knock off Longwood's Luis Reis and Rosen Naydenov.

Daniel Pellerito rounded out the Tribe sweep with a tiebreaker win, 7-6 (5), over the Lancer team of Nikhil Kulkarni and Ernest Rocabert at No. 3.
In singles, the Tribe (1-3) won five of six first sets on the way to five straight-set wins and a singles sweep. After their clinching win in doubles, Brown (No. 2) and Davis (No. 1) posted victories at the top two singles spots to increase the Tribe lead to 3-0. Brown notched his eighth win of the year, dropping just three games in making quick work of Jourdan Kast, 6-2, 6-1. Davis followed with his fifth win of the season, 6-3, 7-5, over Naydenov.
Brailovsky won the final two games of the first set and then blitzed Weinberg in the second, 6-1, to cement the Tribe's first win of 2022.
Pellerito and freshman
Sean Joseph both posted straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Pellerito upended Rocabert, 6-0, 7-5, to improve to 6-3, while Joseph recorded his first collegiate dual-match win with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Kulkarni.
Graduate student
Sebastian Quiros rounded out the Tribe sweep with a three-set win at No. 3. After dropping the first set to Cagigas, Quiros rolled in the second, 6-2, before claiming the third-set super breaker, 10-4. He recorded his fifth win of the year.
UP NEXT: The Tribe is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Elon in its first CAA match of the year at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The contest carries a 1 p.m. start time.
