Porter Reaches Milestone in Three-Set Win

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Anna Porter etched her name into the record books becoming just the ninth player in Tribe history to record 1,000 career digs as the Green and Gold bested North Carolina A&T Sunday in Greensboro.

Porter had 16 digs over three sets to land exactly on the 1,000 dig milestone. The Tribe defense was on point as the libero helped limit the Aggies to a .129 hitting percentage. Kaitlyn Ferguson and Ryann Love each chipped in four blocks.

Offensively, Eleanor Stothoff led the way with 14 kills hitting .355, while Ferguson added 11 kills. Taylor Burrell had nine point-enders on a .348 percentage. Amy Schwem dished out 26 assists.

The Tribe jumped out to a 10-6 edge in the opening frame, but the set would be tied 18-18 midway through. The Green and Gold won the next four points to gain a 22-18 lead and eventually a 25-22 first set win.

Much like yesterday, the second set was a marathon, with the Tribe taking a 28-26 win. Offense was the key to the frame as the Green and Gold hammered 22 kills, hitting 306. Stothoff exploded for nine kills in the set, while Schwem dished out 14 assists.

The Tribe dominated the third, turning up the defensive intensity holding the Aggies to a -.122 hitting percentage. Ferguson and Love each recorded three blocks in the frame and Sydney Taylor added three kills. Porter had six digs, none bigger than her final to reach the 1,000 dig milestone as the Tribe cruised to a 25-12 decision.

William & Mary will have a week off before returning to face Hampton in Kaplan Arena October 22-23.
