WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's soccer wraps up the regular season with a key Colonial Athletic Association match against league newcomer Monmouth on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field and the match will be streamed on FloFC.
The Tribe (4-6-6, 2-3-3 CAA) enters the final match of the CAA schedule in need of a victory to put itself in a position to earn a spot in the league tournament. The Tribe has three scenarios in which it can secure in tournament berth:
1) a Tribe victory AND a Charleston loss at Hofstra
- or -
2) a Tribe victory AND a Northeastern loss or draw at Delaware
- or -
3) a Tribe victory, a Charleston draw at Hofstra and an Elon win or draw vs. UNCW
Playing an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in the the midweek for the third-straight Tuesday, the Tribe
suffered a 3-0 loss at North Carolina earlier this week. The Tar Heels scored three times in the opening 37 minutes, and despite quality chances in the second half, W&M could not close the gap.
Over the weekend, freshman
Lucas Caldas was named one of the top 100 freshmen in the country by Top Drawer Soccer. Earlier this season, Caldas scored the game-winner in the Tribe's 2-1 upset of then-No. 10 Wake Forest.
