WACO, Texas – William & Mary men's tennis closed out play at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Monday afternoon, falling to ACC foe Clemson, 4-0.
 
Clemson (4-1) claimed a hotly contested doubles point thanks to a pair of tiebreaker wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Joseph Brailovsky and Chen Ruo gave the Tribe (0-3) the early lead in doubles with a 6-3 win over Max Smith and Trey Stinchcomb at the No. 2 position.
 
After a Tigers tiebreaker win at No. 3, the match came down to the top spot where the Tribe pair of George Davis and Harrison Brown was in an early break hole. With the Clemson duo of Ryuhei Azuma and Teodor Giusca having a chance to serve out the match, Davis and Brown broke back to force a tiebreaker. In the breaker, the Clemson pairing outlasted the Tribe duo to claim the initial point of the match.
 
In singles, the Tigers won by matching 6-2, 6-1 scores at the top two singles posts to increase its lead to 3-0.
 
Sebastian Quiros and Daniel Pellerito both took their matches to opening-set tiebreakers at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. Quiros claimed the first set from Clemson's Jorge Plans Gonzalez by a 10-8 score in the breaker, while Smith edged Pellerito, 7-6 (4). Both matches were abandoned with the team result decided.
 
Spencer Witaker cemented the Tigers victory, downing Jack Kelly, 6-3, 6-4, on line four.
