Women's Soccer Falls to Big Ten Foe Northwestern

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary women's soccer fell 4-0 to Northwestern Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium.

Northwestern (1-2) dictated the play for much of the first half mustering seven shots and five corner kicks. For much of the first 45 minutes, sophomore goalkeeper Grace Lemley was up to the task making a pair of saves, however Northwestern's persistence would lead to the opening goal late in the first stanza.

With 9:31 left in the opening half, Josie Aulicino found herself alone at the top of the box. She took a few steps to the right before looping the ball off her right foot and into the top left corner of the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats would strike again early in the second as Lily Gilbertson rifled a cross into a dangerous area and an unlucky bounce  off a Tribe defender gave Northwestern a second goal of the game.

With 11 minutes remaining, Meg Boade streaked down the right touch line and beat the keeper to give the Wildcats a three-goal advantage. Moments later, Aulicino found Aurea Martin in front of the net and the striker put the ball away for the fourth goal of the game.

The Green and Gold produced five shots in the contest and two on target.
