WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary field hockey junior Cara Menges was named the Tribe Leader of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday. The Tribe Leader of the Week recognizes exceptional William & Mary student-athletes for their contributions as leaders in the classroom and the community. Menges was selected by her peers on the W&M Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Menges is a two-time team captain for the field hockey program. Last season, she was a VaSID All-State First Team pick along with being named to the All-CAA Second Team and All-Region Second Team. She also helped the Tribe to the league title and an NCAA Tourney berth in 2018.

Academically, Menges is a government major and was named to Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honorary Society, in 2020. During each of her three years, she has been named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, a W&M Provost Award winner and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Academic Team.

In the community, Menges is an ambassador for Morgan's Message Education Program, advocating for student-athlete mental health awareness. She is also one of two student representatives on the Tribe Club board, focusing on fundraising for the annual fund to support all varsity sports.
