WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's track and field junior
Felecia Hayes was named the Tribe Leader of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday. The Tribe Leader of the Week recognizes exceptional William & Mary student-athletes for their contributions as leaders in the classroom and the community.
A sprinter and team leader, Hayes is majoring in kinesiology and health sciences with a concentration in public health. She is a two-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection.
In the community, Hayes served in multiple capacities with Williamsburg James City County Public Schools. She served as an intern working with the School Health Initiative Program and was also a student teacher in 2019-20.
A member of William & Mary's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Hayes serves as the Diversity and Inclusion chair. She was elected to the leadership position to help and make the student-athlete experience more inclusive. Hayes is also a Class Champions representative for the W&M chapter, encouraging students to develop life skills in helping emotional learning.
Over the summer, Hayes was the head organizer for weekly Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protests in Williamsburg. The events grew to consist of over 200 individuals and fund raised to provide students with resources to create a safe and effective environment for learning. She also served on working groups to promote the well-being of the black student experience on campus.
