Alfredo Bozalongo’s Late Strike Sends Men’s Soccer to Double OT Win at Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - Sophomore Alfredo Bozalongo scored from distance in the final minute of the second overtime period to lift William & Mary men's soccer to a 2-1 road victory at George Mason on Saturday afternoon.

With just 55 seconds remaining in the second extra session, Bozalongo corralled a George Mason clearance attempt. From dead center, he bent a shot inside the left post from 25 yards to give the Tribe the come-from-behind victory.

The Tribe found itself in an early hole despite appearing to take the first-half lead. In the 37th minute, sophomore Alexander Levengood found himself 1-v-1 with Mason goalkeeper Jackson Lee after a nice through ball. He tucked a shot inside the right post but the goal was negated after Levengood was ruled to be offside.

Just a minute later, Mason struck on a throw-in. The long throw bounded to the middle of the area, finding the foot of Ishmail Kamara. He one-timed it inside the left post from 12 yards out to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Marcos Villeda equalized for the Tribe just nine minutes into the second half. Along the left wing, sophomore Diba Nwegbo played a nice ball across the box to classmate Levengood. The W&M midfielder pulled in the Mason defender and played the ball through to Villeda to set him up 1-on-1 with the keeper. The Fairfax, Va., native snuck it under the Mason backstop from 10 yards out for his first collegiate tally to draw the Tribe even at one.
