The William & Mary men's cross country wrapped up the abbreviated 2021 winter season on Friday morning, racing to a second-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. That extends a 33-year streak of the Tribe finishing either first or second at the league meet, dating back to the 1988 championship event. Northeastern claimed its first conference title with 27 points ahead of W&M's 65 points, with Elon taking third with 76 points. Hofstra was fourth with 98 points, while College of Charleston (137) and UNCW (144) rounded out the team standings. Hofstra's Alex Masai won the 8K race in 22:53.5, his third conference title in a row to tie the CAA record for wins.
William & Mary senior
Spencer Tsai (Eugene, Ore.) led the way for the Tribe, running 24:33.9 for sixth place and All-CAA honors for the third year in a row. Redshirt-junior
Johnny Rogers (Vienna, Va.) was 14th overall, just missing the cutoff for all-conference honors, in 25:13.1, and freshman
Patrick North (Spokane, Wash.) was right behind him in 25:15.9 for 15th place. Redshirt-junior
Jack Mackey (Alexandria, Va.) crossed the finish in 25:21.1 for 17th overall, and redshirt-freshman
Joshua Shackelford (Hayes, Va.) gave the Tribe five men in the top-20, finishing 19th overall in 25:32.2. Rounding out the top-seven for W&M were freshman
Sam Pritchard (Springfield, Va.) and senior
Matt Frame (Alexandria, Va.), taking 24th and 25th, respectively, in 25:43.1 and 25:57.9.
With the cross county season complete, attention turns to the outdoor track & field campaign, which will begin next Saturday, March 13, with a meet at Navy.
