WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The W&M men's gymnastics team defeated Springfield, 380.8-370.1, in a virtual meet at Williamsburg Gymnastics on Sunday afternoon.
Andrew Lyubovsky (high bar; tied on parallel bars) and
Sam Lee (vault; tied on parallel bars) highlighted the Tribe's individual performances by each winning a pair of events, while
Cutter Fugett (floor) and
Alek Kuzmenchuk (rings) also claimed titles.
As a team, W&M won five of the six events en route to posting its second-best score of the season.
Event Recaps
Floor, 62.7 – Fugett earned the floor title with a 13.25, while
Ian Creelman and
Kevin Portofee tied for third with a 12.55.
Pommel Horse, 59.7 –
Christian Marsh posted the team's top score on pommel horse (12.15).
Rings, 62.8 – Kuzmenchuk recorded a career-high 12.8 to secure the rings title and was closely followed by
Christian Marsh's second-place performance (12.6).
Vault, 69.25 – Lee posted the meet's top score on vault with a career-high 14.1, while
Collin Lillie finished third (14.0).
Parallel Bars, 63.7 – Lyubovsky and Lee tied for the parallel bars title (13.4), as the score represented a career high for Lee.
High Bar, 62.65 – Tribe gymnasts swept the top three spots on high bar, as Lyubovsky won the title with a 13.1 and was followed by Lee (12.9) and Creelman (12.75, season high).
