William & Mary junior sprinter
Graham Hertweck (Greensboro, N.C.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday, after leading the Tribe to a split finish in its season opener over the weekend. This is the first weekly award of Hertweck's career.
Competing in a tri-meet against George Mason and Delaware, Hertweck led W&M with 39.75 points, coming on three individual wins. He swept the 50 free against both teams in 20.74 seconds, and came back later to win the 100 free against Delaware in 45.77 seconds. Hertweck also took second against the conference-rival Blue Hens in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 50.60 seconds. The final event of the day was the 200 free relay, and Hertweck finished his weekend by leading-off the Tribe to a win over the Blue Hens in 1:24.41.
William & Mary has this weekend off, but will return to the pool on Saturday, March 6, in a virtual meet against Davidson.
