WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The W&M men's gymnastics team opened its home slate with a 395.6-385.45 setback to Navy in its home opener at Kaplan Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Senior
Ian Creelman and junior
Andrew Lyubovsky highlighted the Tribe's individual efforts with outstanding performances. Creelman claimed the vault title with a career-high 14.1, while Lyubovsky posted the meet's top all-around score with a career-best 78.8.
Event Recaps
Floor, 65.25 – Lyubovsky led the way on floor with a third-place finish, as he recorded a career-high 13.6.
Pommel Horse, 60.2 – Junior
Christian Marsh posted the team's top score on pommel horse with a 12.7.
Rings, 63.6 – Freshman
Ahmir Postell registered his best score of the season rings and led the Tribe with a 12.95.
Vault, 68.4 – In addition to Creelman's winning performance on vault, freshman
Sam Lee earned his best mark of the year in the event and contributed to the team total with a 13.7.
Parallel Bars, 64.8 – W&M defeated Navy on parallel bars, 64.8-64.45, as Lyubovsky (13.45) and Postell (12.9) placed second and third, respectively.
High Bar, 63.2 – Lyubovsky and Postell also finished second and third, respectively, on high bar as they earned a 13.2 and a 12.95.
All-Around – In addition to Lyubovsky's winning effort in all-around with a career-best 78.8, sophomore
Aidan Cuy competed in all six events and tallied a career-high 75.3.
