WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's basketball senior Luke Loewe was named the Tribe Leader of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday. The Tribe Leader of the Week recognizes exceptional William & Mary student-athletes for their contributions as leaders in the classroom and the community.

Loewe is a three-year starter and last season was named to the CAA All-Defensive team. As a senior, he leads the Tribe and ranks among the CAA's top 10 in scoring (16.7), steals (1.6) and assists (3.6).

In the classroom, Loewe is a kinesiology and health sciences major and is a two-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection.

In 2019, he was named the program's Mark Batzel Award winner, which is given to the player that displays leadership, determination, mental toughness and heart, while having the ability to instill those qualities in his teammates.

An avid fisherman, Loewe has his own YouTube and social media channels called Bass and Buckets. Through fishing, he teaches and serves as a youth mentor, providing a positive role model and speaking to youth about having a healthy balance in their athletic pursuits.
