RADFORD, Va. – Freshman
Langdon Hatton scored a career-high 17 points on Wednesday night at Radford but the William & Mary men's basketball team suffered a 67-54 setback to the Highlanders on the eve of Thanksgiving.
Hatton scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half and finished 7-of-11 from the field, including a 3-pointer and 2-of-2 at the charity stripe. He added five rebounds and a blocked shot in a career-high 26 minutes off the bench.
Radford scored the game's first five points and led by six, 10-4, following a Josiah Jeffers top of the key 3-pointer at the 16:50 mark.
The Highlanders opened up a 14-point first-half lead behind a 12-2 run. Xavier Lipscomb and Chyree Walker sparked the run with 10 of the Highlanders points. Lipscomb knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers, while Walker capped the run with a lay-up at the 10:50 mark to increase the lead to 22-8.

Connor Kochera closed the gap to nine with six minutes remaining in the half.
After back-to-back buckets from Artese Stapleton and Lipscomb pushed the margin back to 30-17, the Tribe closed the half on a run. Senior

Tyler Rice found Hatton for a lay-up and knocked down a floater in the lane. The seven-straight Tribe points narrowed the gap to 30-24 with 34 seconds left in the half.
The Highlanders hit their first two shots out of the locker room to re-establish a double-digit lead. The margin ballooned to 15, 50-35, on a Rashun Williams putback with 10:28 remaining and the Tribe could not get any closer than 10 the rest of the way.
Blair joined Hatton in double figures with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Kochera added nine points and five rebounds.
For the game, W&M shot 46.5% (20-of-43), including 4-of-13 from 3-point range, while the Highlanders finished at 48.1% (25-of-52) from the floor and 9-of-22 (40.9%) from long range. Williams and Shaquan Jules led a balanced Radford attack with 13 points, while Lipscomb finished with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting.
The Tribe returns to action when they welcome Mary Baldwin to Kaplan Arena on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloHoops.
