Women's Basketball Returns Home to Face George Mason Friday Night

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team returns home to host George Mason on Friday, Nov. 19. Tip-off time between the Tribe and the Patriots is set for 7 p.m. Friday's game will be streamed on FloHoops

W&M News and Notes
- William & Mary basketball will host in-state rival George Mason Friday night in Kaplan Arena. Last season the Tribe defeated Mason 48-43 in Fairfax behind a game-high 27 points from Sydney Wagner

- On Tuesday evening, senior Sydney Wagner hit her 100th three pointer in a Tribe uniform. Wagner ranks 11th in school history in baskets made from downtown. The senior tallied 13 points in the game, marking her first time in double-digits this season after scoring at least 10 points in every game last year. 

- Junior Bre Bellamy has scored in double figures in each game this season and leads the Tribe averaging 12.0 points per contest. Bellamy tops the CAA shooting 78.9% from the field, ranking ninth nationally. She was named William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week following the Tribe's first two games of the year. 

- Graduate student Riley Casey has scored 13 points in each of the last two outings and knocked down a pair of threes in each of the Tribe's three games this season. Casey's 2.0 threes per contest rank tied for fifth in the CAA.  

-  The Green and Gold's fourth, fifth, and sixth leading scorers all come from an exciting freshman class. Dani McTeer has been outstanding recording 8.0 points per game, while Ava Stevenson has tallied 6.5 points per game and Ruthie Montella has contributed 5.7 per contest.

- Wagner  led  the  Tribe  and  was  in  the  top-10  nationally,  playing  38.3  minutes  per   game   last   season.   Over   two   seasons   in   Williamsburg,   the   guard   has   amassed  1,122  minutes  played.  Bellamy  has  also  reached  the  1,000  mark in her career,  playing   1,016   minutes   in   the   Green   and   Gold.

-  Casey   spent   her   first   three   collegiate   seasons   playing   for  Columbia,  before  joining  the  Tribe  for  graduate  school.  During  her  time  in  New  York,  Casey  played  1750  minutes  and  scored  644  points.  The  Tennessee  native averaged over 10.5 points per game over 61 contests.

-  In its most recent game, the Tribe lost to Navy, 66-54.  The Green and Gold had 19  assists and 28 rebounds.  Casey and Wagner each   posted   a   team-high   of 13 points , while freshmen Ruthie Montella led the Tribe with five assists.

- Graduate student  Kate  Sramac  stuffed  the  stat  sheet  over  three  seasons  with  Cornell  before  coming  to  Williamsburg.  While  in  Ithaca,  Sramac  recorded  747  minutes  and  scored  176  points.  Sramac  added  98  rebounds,  67  assists,  and  48  steals  with the Big Red.

- Last year, William   &   Mary   ranks   second   in   the   CAA   in   scoring   defense   (61.3   ppg),   while   leading   the   conference   in   three-point   field   goal   percentage   defense   (23.1%).

- W&M    head    coach    Ed    Swanson    enjoyed    a    noteworthy    2019-20    season    individually.  He  was  named  the  CAA  Co-Coach  of  the  Year  following  the  Tribe's  historic  season.  Swanson  won  his  500th  career  game  on  Nov.  26,  became  just  the  third  coach  in  W&M  history  to  win  100  games  with  the  Tribe  on  Jan.  12,  and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.
