Nate Lynn Honored as CAA Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After posting a tremendous performance in the William & Mary football team's 31-18 victory at fourth-ranked Villanova on Saturday, junior defensive lineman Nate Lynn was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Lynn continued his stretch of outstanding efforts at Villanova as he recorded four tackles, 2.0 sacks and 2.5 TFL to highlight a dominant defensive showing in the Tribe's victory. W&M held the Wildcats to just 113 total yards, four first downs and three points during the first three quarters en route to building a 31-3 advantage.

The Charlotte, N.C., native currently leads the CAA in sacks (10.5), TFL (11) and forced fumbles (4). Nine of Lynn's sacks have come in the last five games – all against conference opponents. Lynn's sack total ranks third nationally, while he is tied for first in the country in forced fumbles. Additionally, his 1.5 sacks per game is tied for first nationally.

Lynn is closing in on W&M' single-season sacks record of 12, which is currently held by a pair of former All-Americans – Adrian Tracy (2009, 14 games) and Luke Cullinane (1996, 12 games).
Lynn's accolade marks the second time this season that a W&M standout has garnered the league's top weekly defensive honor, as Gage Herdman earned the distinction following W&M's win at Colgate.

Lynn shares this week's defensive player of the week honor with Maine linebacker Ray Miller.

W&M (6-2, 4-1) will conclude its regular season road slate when it plays at Delaware on Saturday at 1 p.m.
