CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The William & Mary field hockey team fell at No.16 Virginia, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Turf Field.
Virginia (9-6, 2-2 ACC) jumped out to 3-0 lead midway through the second quarter following goals by Greer Gill, Amber Ezechiels and Esha Shah.

W&M (3-10, 3-2 CAA) got on the scoreboard with a goal by senior
Cara Menges in the 28th minute, as junior
Tabby Billingham and freshman
Pyper Friedman assisted on the score, which was Menges' first of the season.
UVA added to its lead in the second half with a pair of goals, both coming from Annie McDonough.

Virginia outshot the Tribe, 17-6, which included a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Cavaliers also owned a 6-3 edge in penalty corners.
