WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary field hockey team hits the road again this week with a pair of non-conference contests against nationally ranked opponents. W&M will square off against No. 16 Virginia on Wednesday at 3 p.m., before playing at No. 15 Old Dominion on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Wednesday's matchup at Virginia will be streamed on
ACC Network Extra, while Sunday's game at ODU will be available on
Monarch Media.
Virginia enters Wednesday's contest with a 7-6 record overall and has lost its last three games, including a 2-1 setback versus ODU in its last outing. The Monarchs have won seven of their last eight games and currently own an 11-3 record.
Things to Know
- The Green and Gold (3-9, 3-2 CAA) split a pair of road conference games last week. W&M defeated Drexel, 2-0, to secure a spot in the CAA Tournament for the sixth straight season. W&M also lost to No. 20 Delaware, 3-1.

Kimi Jones started both games in goal and recorded nine saves in each contest. She recorded her fourth career shutout on Oct. 15 vs. Drexel.
- The Tribe and UVA meet again for the second time this season. Virginia enters Wednesday's game on a three-game losing streak, which includes a 2-1 setback to ODU in its last outing. The last time the Tribe and Virginia met, the Cavaliers won, 5-0, on Sept. 3.
-This will be the first match between W&M and ODU this season. ODU enters Sunday's match with an 11-3 record overall and a 4-1 mark in the Big East.
- Freshman
Pyper Friedman was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Oct 5. Friedman tallied the decisive conversation in the Tribe's 3-2 shootout win over Hofstra . She also added her first career goal in W&M's 4-3 win over Northeastern.
- Junior
Lauren Curran was named the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Oct. 5. Curran scored a goal in each of the Tribe's CAA wins over Hofstra and Northeastern. Her tally against the Huskies with one second remaining in the second quarter was her first career game-winner.
- Curran leads the Tribe with 13 points on six goals and an assist. She ranks fourth in the CAA in goals per game (0.5), which is 51st nationally, and fifth in points per game (1.08).

Kellen Richbourg and junior
Ireland Miller scored their first collegiate goals earlier this season. Richbourg scored the Tribe's second goal in the win over Hofstra, while Miller converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter vs. Northeastern. Sophomore

Maddie McGaughey (Longwood) and Curran (Longwood) all tallied their first collegiate goals this season as well.

- The Tribe's 2021 schedule is loaded with nationally-ranked competition. W&M has already faced No. 8 Virginia, No. 12 Liberty, No. 16 Penn State and No. 18 Duke. The Tribe has two remaining contests against nationally-ranked foes in No. 16 Virginia (Oct. 20), and No. 15 Old Dominion (Oct. 24). In total, the Tribe's non-conference schedules features six of nine matches against nationally-ranked competition.
