Field Hockey Edged at Towson in OT, 2-1

TOWSON, Md. – The William & Mary field hockey team suffered its first conference loss of the season with a 2-1 setback in overtime at Towson on Sunday afternoon.

Kathryn Parkinson scored the game-winner off an assist from Hannah McKeon with 1:38 remaining in the first overtime session. Parkinson's goal came on the Tigers' (3-10, 1-3) lone shot of the extra session.

The Tribe (2-8, 2-1) controlled much of the overtime period and earned four penalty corners while totaling seven shots, five of which were on goal.

Despite the final result, W&M outshot the Tigers, 24-4, including a 15-3 margin on goal, and owned a 16-0 advantage in penalty corners.

After TU got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Sarah Hatfield off an assist from Elizabeth Harper in the 45th minute, W&M quickly answered a few minutes later. Sophomore Jayden Moon provided the equalizer in the 50th minute with her first career goal. The Spotsylvania, Va., native secured a rebound in front of the goal off a save by Lena VanDam on a penalty corner shot by junior Audrey Domovich and fired past the Towson goalie into the right side of the boards.

Senior Cara Menges posted a team-high six shots, three coming on goal, while freshman Pyper Friedman totaled four shots, including three on goal.

Although the loss snapped W&M's nine-game winning streak against Towson, the Tribe controls the all-time series, 27-4-1.
