WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary Athletics is partnering with Food Lion Feeds to help feed neighbors in need during the 2020-21 basketball season with the Score to Give More Program.

For each made free throw during the men's basketball season, Food Lion Feeds will donate 100 meals to the school's local food bank or pantry, up to 30,000 meals per school. The Tribe's success at the charity stripe will benefit the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.

Early returns are good for the Green and Gold and the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank with the Tribe ranking among the national leaders in free throw shooting at 79.4% and averaging 14 made free throws per game.

In its second year, the Score to Give More program started November 25 and runs through the men's basketball season. W&M is one of 17 universities across Delaware, North Carolina and Virginia to partner with Food Lion Feeds.

"We're excited to partner with these great schools to help fight hunger in their local communities and beyond," said Jennifer Blanchard, director of community relations for Food Lion, on the Score to Give More program. "Far too many of our neighbors are forced to make impossible choices between things like gas and groceries, or dinner and rent. 'Score to Give More' is another way we can work together to help end hunger in the towns and cities we serve."

Van Wagner, William & Mary's multimedia rights and campus-wide solutions partner, was responsible for securing this partnership.
