WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer senior Mariana Hershner was named the Tribe Leader of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Monday. The Tribe Leader of the Week recognizes exceptional William & Mary student-athletes for their contributions as leaders in the classroom and the community.

A midfielder, Hershner appeared in 12 matches last season, including four starts. In the classroom, she is majoring in Business Analytics and Data Science with a concentration in marketing. Hershner is a three-time William & Mary Provost Award winner and was selected to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each of the last three years.

Hershner is the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for women's soccer and served as a member of the CAA SAAC Voter Registration Subcommittee. The subcommittee's goal was to ensure that all CAA student-athletes register to vote for the election in November. Thanks to her efforts, William & Mary was the first league school to achieve 100% voter registration among student-athletes.

William & Mary Athletics and The Virginia Lottery are committed to promoting the excellence of our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in the community. At William & Mary, we cultivate creative thinkers, principled leaders, and compassionate global citizens equipped for lives of meaning and distinction.
