Senior Victoria Reynolds Notches Third Double-Double of the Season in Setback Against Drexel

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Victoria Reynolds notched her third double-double of the season, but Drexel used a 10-0 fourth-quarter run to pull away from the William & Mary women's basketball team 61-54 on Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena.
 
Tied at 43, Drexel (13-6, 6-1 CAA) used a 10-0 run that spanned nearly four minutes of the fourth quarter. Niki Metzel hit a pair of free throws to give the Dragons the lead for good before she added a jumper to make it a two-possession game. Bailey Greenberg kept the run alive as she connected on two from the line before Metzel scored again Aubree Brown hit a jumper to make it 53-43 with 5:10 left in the game.
 
W&M had to battle to come back all day and was able to force three ties but was unable to take the lead. Down six late in the third quarter, the Tribe used a 6-0 run to tie it for the last time. Reynolds had the final four points of the frame, before starting the fourth quarter with a bucket to tie at 43-43 with 8:52 left.
 
The Dragons started the game on a 9-0 run and never trailed in the contest. Metzel sandwiched a pair of jumpers around a basket from Mariah Leonard and a 3-pointer from Greenberg to make it 9-0 just under two minutes into the game.

Individual Leaders 
Senior Victoria Reynolds notched her third double-double of the season as she scored a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds, while adding five rebounds, and a steal. Sophomore Eva Hodgson was also in double-figures with 12 points, one rebound, one assist, and three steals. Both juniors Bailey Eichner and Nyla Pollard added eight points. Eichner grabbed six rebounds, had four assists, two steals, and two blocks, while Pollard had three boards in the contest.
 
Niki Metzel scored a game-high 16 points, grabbed four rebounds, one assist, two steals and a block to lead three Dragons in double-figures. Bailey Greenberg added 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a steal, while Aubree Brown had 10 points and six helpers. Kate Connolly scored eight points all in the first half to spring the Dragons' early run.
 
Inside the Numbers 
- W&M shot 47.1% (24-for-51) from the floor in the contest.
- The Tribe also won the rebounding battle 28-27.
- Drexel had a 22-4 advantage in free throws and made it count as it shot 19-of-22 from the line.
- The Dragons also had a 22-10 advantage in points off of turnovers.
 
Notes
Senior Victoria Reynolds recorded her third double-double of the season and the fifth of her career with 13 points and 12 rebounds … She has now been in double figures in 14 games this year and 53 for her career … It was her third double-digit rebounding effort in the last four games to give her four this season and 11 for her career … Her 13 points give her 1,073 for career and move her into sole possession of 18th all-time in school history … Reynolds needs 31 more points to move into 17th place all-time … Sophomore Eva Hodgson was in double-figures the 20th straight game and 36th career time.
 
What's Ahead
W&M embarks on a season-long three-game road trip starting with a game at Elon on Friday, Jan. 31. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. Following its first bye date next Sunday, W&M will travel to Charleston on Feb. 7, before playing at UNCW on Feb. 9.
