HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Senior Victoria Reynolds and sophomore Eva Hodgson each scored 23 points as the William & Mary women's basketball team picked up a 66-53 victory at Hofstra on Friday morning.
Leading by nine, W&M (12-4, 3-2 CAA) used a 10-2 run to build its largest lead of the game in the third quarter. Redshirt sophomore Sydney Wagner scored a lay-up before junior Bailey Eichner completed a traditional 3-point play to take the lead to 14. After a Pride basket, senior Victoria Reynolds scored five straight points to make it 46-29 with 4:05 to play in the third quarter.
Back-to-back Hofstra (3-12, 0-4 CAA) 3-pointers from Ana Hernandez Gil cut the Tribe lead back to 10 midway through the final stanza. However, a Reynolds bucket and a traditional 3-point play from freshman Bre Bellamy made it 60-45 with five minutes to go in the game.
After Hofstra cut W&M's lead to two, the Tribe responded with an 11-2 run to take its largest lead of the first half late in the second quarter. Sophomore Eva Hodgson started the run with a traditional 3-point play before back-to-back fast-break layups from Reynolds and Wagner pushed W&M's lead back to nine. After a Hofstra bucket, junior Gabby Rogers and Reynolds each had baskets to make it 32-21 with 1:25 left in the half.

Individual Highlights
Senior Victoria Reynolds and sophomore Eva Hodgson each finished with 23 points in the game. Reynolds notched her second double-double of the season as she added 12 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Hodgson rounded out her line with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Sophomore Sydney Wagner finished with nine points, two boards, and an assist, while junior Bailey Eichner had three points, six rebounds, and three thefts. Junior Nyla Pollard added six rebounds and seven assists.
Ana Hernandez Gil led Hofstra with 11 points, three assists, and three steals. The only other Pride player in double-figures was Sandra Karsten, who finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Inside the Numbers
- W&M finished the game shooting 36.7% (22-of-60) from the floor, and hit only two 3-pointers.
- However, W&M, the nation's best free-throw shooting team, finished at 90.9% (20-of-22) from the free-throw line.
- The Tribe won the rebounding battle 39-31, which moves them to 8-0 when they accomplish that feat.
- W&M had 20 offensive rebounds in the contest.
- The Tribe outscored Hofstra in the paint (36-24), off of turnovers (22-13), and in second-chance points (19-12).

Senior Victoria Reynolds notched her second double-double of the season and her fourth of her career … She has now been in double-figures in 12 of the last 14 games, and 51 times in her career … It was her second 10-rebound game of the season and eighth of her career … Reynolds also added her fourth 20-point effort of the season and the fifth of her career … With 23 more points, she sits at 1,039 career points and in 19th in school history … She needs 32 more to move into 18th all-time … For the 17th straight game, which is second in Division I school history, sophomore Eva Hodgson has been in double-figures for the 33rd time in her career … She also eclipsed the 20-point mark for the fourth time in the last five games, giving her seven 20-point games this season and eight times in her career … Junior Nyla Pollard set a career-high with seven assists in the game … W&M now has seven road wins, which is one shy of the school record for road victories … It was just the third time the Tribe has won at Hofstra but now has done so in back-to-back seasons.
