Lauren Kelly scored her first career goal, and senior
Katelyn Briguglio made a season-high eight stops, but the William & Mary women's soccer team battled Fairleigh Dickinson to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
FDU (1-2-3) jumped on the board first with a goal in the 15th minute. After the Knights won a corner kick, Maja Skansberg sent the set piece in and found the head of Christa Waterman. Waterman directed the ball into the right corner of the net for the game's lid-lifter.
The lead was short lived as W&M (2-3-1) evened the score 11 minutes later of off a corner kick. The Tribe played the corner quick and it looked like FDU had solved the attempt, but the clearance landed at the foot of junior
Courtney Miles. Miles took a dribble and fed Kelly, who uncorked her shot just inside the near post to level the score at 1-1.
Although both teams had multiple chances, neither team could find the winner in the rest of regulation or in the two overtime periods. Both goalkeepers were spectacular as Briguglio recorded eight saves for W&M, while Amanda Fitzgerald had three for the Knights.
