Volleyball Drops CAA Opener

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- William & Mary volleyball fell in straight sets to Northeastern Friday night in Kaplan Arena. With the loss, the Tribe will fall to 4-8 on the season and 0-1 in CAA play. The Huskies move to 1-0 in conference and 7-6 overall.

The loss came despite another strong performance from junior Kate Dedrick. The Texas native racked up 11 kills on a .348 hitting percentage and added a season-high nine digs. Autumn Brenner and Julia Brown each had strong nights from the service stripe each earning three aces.

How It Happened
The Tribe held Northeastern to a .182 hitting percentage in a back and forth opening set that saw 10 ties and five lead changes. Sophomore Zeyanna Dhalla had a strong first frame with five digs and three assists. Brenner recorded two of her three aces in the first act.

The second set belonged to Dedrick as her six kills, one block, and one ace helped the Tribe build a lead. However, it would not be enough as Northeastern would rally to tie the match at 18-18. The stanza saw seven ties and four lead changes before the Huskies pulled away for a 25-20 win.

The final set was all Huskies as Northeastern opened the third frame with two straight points and never trailed in a set that saw no lead changes. Kate Van Houten came off the bench for the Tribe to provide a pair of assists.

Inside the Numbers
