Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- William & Mary fell 3-0 to Hofstra Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena. With the loss, the Tribe's conference record dips to 0-2 with 14 CAA games to play.
Despite the result, the Tribe saw considerable contributions from
Kate Dedrick on offense and
Kaitlyn Ferguson and
Lauren Merrill on the defensive side of the net. Dedrick racked up a team-high 12 kills and Ferguson and Merrill paced the Tribe's defense with four blocks apiece.
How It Happened
The Pride took the first three points of the first set and did not look back in a frame that saw no lead changes or ties. The Pride smashed 17 kills to William & Mary's four in the opening set that Hofstra won 25-13.
The Tribe's offense improved in the second stanza as Dedrick posted four kills and Merrill added three in a 25-16 defeat. Senior
Autumn Brenner dished out nine assists and added a service ace in set number two, but the Tribe had no answers for a Hofstra offense that hit .500 in the second.
The Green and Gold showed a great deal of resiliency in the final frame, fighting until the very end of a tight 26-24 Pride win.
Claire Farrell had five digs and Dedrick put down five kills in a set that saw 14 ties and six lead changes.
Inside the Numbers
Totaling 12 kills,
Kate Dedrick has reached the double-digit mark in seven of the Tribe's last eight matches. The junior racked up 23 kills in just six sets over the weekend. Despite losing the set, William & Mary out hit Hofstra .242 to .185 in the final frame.

Next weekend the Tribe will hit the road for the first time in CAA play heading south to the Carolinas. William & Mary will face UNCW on Friday night and meet Charleston on Sunday afternoon.
