HARRISONBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's soccer team earned a hard fought road point tying James Madison 2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams on Thursday night in Harrisonburg.
W&M (2-6-2, 0-0-1 CAA) took the lead with a 23rd minute goal. Junior
Page Frantz found redshirt senior
Sarah Segan in a three-on-two situation. Segan created some space on the right side of the 18 and buried her shot into the left upper 90 to give W&M a 1-0 lead.
After pressuring for the second goal, the Tribe doubled its lead right before intermission. In the 45th minute, sophomore
Renee Kohler was charging the left side of the box. She sent a feed to the center of the 18, where junior
Alex Kuhnle one-timed it into the back of the net.
James Madison (3-7-1, 0-0-1 CAA) pulled back within one as it scored in the opening moments of the second half. Sophie Brause sent Ebony Wiseman free down the left side of the 18-yard box. One-versus-one with the goalkeeper, Wiseman scored into the lower right of the goal.
On its last ditch effort, James Madison tied the score with a goal in the final minute of regulation. Wiseman stole a pass back to the goalkeeper. She was able to dribble the ball around senior
Katelyn Briguglio and chased it down, before scoring in the empty net.

Quotable
"It was an electric atmosphere for our first conference game. We had two great goals and came out of the gate strong, hitting the crossbar twice as well. We had the better of the first half, and they had the better of the second. We were disappointed to let them back in it, but pleased to come away with a point in a tough CAA opener on the road." -
Head Coach Julie Shackford
