Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls at Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Julian Ngoh scored his first goal of the season and William & Mary men's soccer outshot Saint Joseph's, 16-4, in the second half, but the host Hawks found the back of the net twice in each half to pull out a 4-1 win at Sweeney Field on Tuesday night.

Falling behind 2-0 at the half, the Tribe (0-3-2) turned up the pressure and rallied in the second frame. W&M pulled one back in the 69th minute as Ngoh scored off a rebound. The senior striker fed sophomore John Eberle free in the right side of the box. His chance was stopped by Joseph Boehm, but both freshman Nathan Messer and Ngoh got to the rebound with the senior finishing to close the gap to 2-1.

Saint Joseph's (3-3) put the game away with two goals in the final 12 minutes. Leon Maric tallied his second goal of the night in the 78th minute, before David Grana capped the scoring with two minutes remaining.

The home team took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute on a penalty kick. Ritchie Barry played a through ball into the left side of the area, and as he ran onto it, Daniel Morales went down in the box and was awarded the PK. Leon Maric converted the spot-kick for the game's first marker.

Bryce Wallace doubled Saint Joseph's lead with a rebound goal in the 38th minute. Barry was once again involved as he made a run into the box, but his chance on frame was blocked by freshman goalkeeper Kieran Baskett. The rebound spilled over to the middle of the area, and Wallace finished with a low shot the left side of the goal.

Quotable
"We are very disappointed with our first-half performance. We lacked urgency and sharpness, and they punished us for it. We fought hard in the second half and briefly made it a game, but got exposed when we threw numbers forward. Now, we have to learn from this and prepare for a difficult CAA match." - W&M head coach Chris Norris

Inside the Numbers
