WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's soccer team struck twice in the second half to top George Washington 2-0 in the season opener for both teams on Thursday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Senior

After a nearly two-hour weather delay and scoreless opening 45 minutes, Segan gave W&M (1-0) the lead just two minutes into the second stanza. She beat a defender along the right side of the box and scored inside the near post from
Junior Alex Kuhnle scored her fourth career goal in the 65th min.
six-yards out as her chance slipped past the GW goalkeeper.
Senior
Charlotte Hyland set up Kuhnle to double the Tribe lead in the 65th minute. The senior midfielder ran free through the midfield and played Kuhnle into a 1-on-1 situation with the goalkeeper. Kuhnle touched around a charging Tamaki Machi and finished into the center of an empty net.
The Tribe defense staved off the Colonials best attempt in 58th minute to preserve the 1-0 advantage. After seniors

Hannah Keith collided in the 18-yard-box it looked as if GW had an empty net. However, redshirt junior
Lauren Kelly came to the rescue and her sliding attempt cleared the ball and kept the visitors off of the scoreboard.
