NEWARK, Del. – Despite multiple comeback attempts, the William & Mary baseball team dropped a 3-2 decision at Delaware on Saturday night. With the setback, the Tribe falls to 20-9, 4-4 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Blue Hens improve to 10-19, 4-4 in league action.
Delaware, which was no-hit through 5.1 innings, struck for three runs in the home half of the seventh inning. Back-to-back singles from Jordan Hutchins and Joseph Carpenter started the inning. Vinny Vaccone opened the scoring with a single up the middle. After an out, Zack Miller doubled off of the left field wall to give the Blue Hens a 3-0 cushion.
The Tribe added a pair of late runs starting with a run in the top of the eighth. Freshman

Zach Pearson had an infield single to get the Tribe on the board.
W&M brought the tying and winning runs to the plate in the top of the ninth, but Delaware was able to escape with the win. Sophomore

Kyle Wrighte loaded the bases with a hit by pitch. The Tribe brought home a run with a sacrifice fly from Cone, but Winston Allen came on with the bases loaded and got the final three outs to lock down the save and the win for the Blue Hens.
