WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team clinched its three-game series against Campbell after claiming a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Tribe (11-1) shutout the Camels (8-6) across sixth-consecutive innings to improve its winning streak to eight in a row.
With the score tied at one-all, the Tribe took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Rookie
Hunter Hart belted his second single before moving into scoring position via wild pitch. Following the first out, senior
Jason Waldman chopped a RBI single up the middle for a 2-1 margin.
The Tribe added a pair of insurance runs behind a two-out rally in the eighth inning. With runners on each corner, freshman
Matt Thomas landed a RBI single in shallow center field. An error kept the inning alive before Hart walked in a run to provide W&M a 4-1 advantage.
Senior
Bodie Sheehan (2-0) tossed 6.2 innings of one-run ball with two strikeouts to gain the win. Sophomore
Randy Prosperi recorded a huge third out in the seventh inning to prevent CU from scoring with the bases loaded.
Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week
Zach Tsakounis closed out the game with three strikeouts in two scoreless relief innings. The effort earned Tsakounis the save.
Tribe Standouts
Hart enjoyed another impressive outing after reaching in all four plate appearances behind two hits and two walks, while driving in a run. Freshman
Jack Cone and Thomas contributed an RBI each.
