The William & Mary men's swimming team had a perfect six lifetime-bests in six swims on Saturday night at the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational, coming in five different events. Five of those performances also landed in the Tribe record books.
- First up was the 100 fly, where freshman
Jack Galbraith (Vienna, Va.) swam 49.00 for third place overall. That improved on his best from the prelims session, and improved Galbraith to ninth in school history.
- In the 400 IM, sophomore
James Mostofi (Darien, Conn.) finish second overall, dipping under the four-minute barrier for the first time in college. His time of 3:59.22 improves Mostofi to 15th all-time among W&M athletes.
- Next was the 200 free, where sophomore
Aristides Speres (Rye, N.Y.) improved three spots from the morning, and finished sixth overall with a lifetime-best time of 1:40.86.
- In the 100 breast, freshman
Ian Cobb (Vienna, Va.) flew by his lifetime-best and took fifth overall in 56.41 seconds, just ahead of classmate
Ryan Bebel (Westfield, N.J.) who was sixth in 56.43, another lifetime-best. The pair now rank 11th and 12th all-time, respectively.
- The final race of the night was the 100 back, where Galbraith earned the silver medal with a time of 49.59. That improved the personal-best he swam last night, and moved Galbraith up to 10th all-time among Tribe athletes.
The Nike Invitational moves back to UNC and Koury Natatorium for Sunday's final day, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
