Women's Basketball Falls in Double Overtime Thriller at Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston's Tyler Collins hit a lay-up with 4.7 seconds left in double-overtime to lift the Cougars to a 79-77 victory over the William & Mary women's basketball team on Friday afternoon in Charleston.
 
Collins' scored the final four points of the second overtime period to lift the Cougars to the triumph. She hit a lay-up with 2:45 left to tie the score, before adding the game-winner with just over four seconds left. The freshman also provided the heroics to send the game to double-overtime as the freshman hit a desperation three at the end of the first overtime to tie the score at 72-72 after five periods.
 
Leading 52-49, the Tribe used a quick 6-0 run to build its largest lead of the game with 6:26 left in the fourth quarter. Senior Bianca Boggs opened the run with a free throw, before freshman Eva Hodgson canned a 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game. Sophomore Gabby Rogers hit a pair of free throws to make it 58-49 Tribe.
 
Charleston chipped into the lead before scoring the final four points of the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. Arynn Eady started the run with a free throw, before Darien Huff connected on a traditional 3-point play with 46 seconds left. Neither team could find the winner and the contest went to overtime.
 
The first half was a back-and-forth affair that featured three ties and 10-lead changes. Neither team could build larger than a 3-point lead in the first 20 minutes, and both teams step aside level at 26-26.

Individual Leaders
Senior Bianca Boggs led the Tribe with a game-high 23 points and six rebounds. She added four assists, five steals, and two blocks. Junior Victoria Reynolds added 17 points and five rebounds, while freshman Eva Hodgson finished with 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Sophomore Gabby Rogers finished with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Darien Huff was one of four Cougars in double-figures with 21 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Tyler Collins finished with 18 points, while Deja Ford added 16. Arynn Eady finished with a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Inside the Numbers
- W&M shot 39.7-percent (27-for-68) from the field, but hit just 4-of-17 (23.5-percent).
