WILMINGTON, N.C. – The William & Mary women's basketball team clawed back from a pair of double-digit deficits, and received a career-high 24 points from freshman
Eva Hodgson, but fell 66-58 at Trask Coliseum on Sunday afternoon in Wilmington, N.C.
UNCW (15-7 ,7-3 CAA) scored the final 10 points of the game, but made eight of those from the free throw line to pull away with the win. Gigi Smith hit a lay-up to tie the game at 58-58 with 5:46 left, before the Hawks hit 8-of-14 from the line to pick up the 66-58 victory.
W&M (11-11, 4-7 CAA) opened the quarter with 7-0 run to regain a two-point lead. Senior
Bianca Boggs opened the run with a lay-up, before junior
Victoria Reynolds added a lay-up to cut the lead to one point. Hodgson then canned a left-corner 3-pointer to give the Tribe a 58-56 lead with 6:21 left in the game.
Trailing 28-19, W&M used an 8-0 run to cut the Seahawks lead back to one with 2:19 left in the second quarter. Freshman
Emma Krause sparked the run with a 3-pointer, before Boggs had a jumper. Hodgson closed the run with a 3-ball to make it 28-27 UNCW.
However, the Seahawks closed the half on an equal 8-0 run to take a nine-point cushion into the locker room. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Ashli Juene and Lacey Suggs sparked the run, before Suggs' lay-up with 22 seconds left made it 36-27 at halftime.

Eva Hodgson led the Tribe with a career-high 24 points, and five rebounds, to go along with a pair of assists. Senior
Bianca Boggs notched her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while she added three assists, and five steals. Junior
Victoria Reynolds rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
UNCW was paced by Lacey Suggs, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds with three assists, and four steals. Both Chinyere Bell (10 points and 11 rebounds) and Gigi Smith (15 points and 11 rebounds) finished with double-doubles. Ahyuona Vason rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points and five assists.
Inside the Numbers
- Both teams shot just over 37-percent for the game. The Tribe shot 37.1-percent, while the Seahawks shot 37.3-percent from the floor.
- The Seahawks held a slight edge in the rebounding, 43-41.
- UNCW shot 26 free throws compared to just nine for W&M.
