ELON, N.C. – The William & Mary women's basketball team scored the final five points and pulled away with a 64-59 triumph at Elon on Sunday afternoon. With the win, W&M improves to 12-11, 5-7 in league action and the Phoenix fall to 8-15, 3-9 in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Harper Birdsong hit a lay-up to give the Tribe the lead for good. After a stop on defense, junior
Victoria Reynolds hit 1-of-2 from the line, but senior
Bianca Boggs grabbed the rebound and swished her two free throws to cement the 64-59 victory.
Elon took its first lead of the game as it scored the first five points of the second half. Two free throws from Emily Maupin tied the score, before Jailyn Powell buried a 3-pointer to make it 33-30 with 9:02 left in the third quarter.
W&M stormed out of the gates in the first quarter and scored 15 of the first 17 points of the game. Reynolds opened the game with a triple, before Boggs had a lay-up. After an Elon bucket, the Green and Gold scored 10 straight with five points apiece from Boggs and freshman
Eva Hodgson. The run gave the Tribe a 15-2 advantage, the largest lead of the game, with 2:17 left in the quarter.
Elon cut the lead to as little as one in the second quarter and to two points twice. However, sophomore
Nyla Pollard added a free throw to push the Tribe's lead back to 30-28 at the break.

Freshman
Eva Hodgson scored a team-high 14 points to pace the Tribe. She finished with three rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Both senior

Harper Birdsong finished with 13 points apiece. Boggs added a game-high nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals, while Birdsong grabbed a rebound, had two helpers, and two steals. Junior
Victoria Reynolds rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points, five rebounds, one assist, a block and two thefts.
Emily Maupin scored a game-high 16 points and six rebounds to lead Elon. Jaylin Powell finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Brie Perpignan had 13 points, two rebounds, four assists, five steals, and a block.

- W&M shot 46.7-percent (21-for-45) from the field and also connected on 40-percent (10-for-25) of its 3-pointers.
