The William & Mary men's swimming team wrapped up action at the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational on Sunday night, taking three silver medals out of six swims and adding three more personal bests. For the weekend, the Tribe totaled 25 lifetime-best swims.
- Things started out with the 1,650 free, where sophomore
James Mostofi (Darien, Conn.) touched the wall in a lifetime-best 15:50.13 for fourth place overall. Mostofi now ranks 11th all-time at W&M in the event. Mostofi's 1,000-yard split was a collegiate-best 9:36.72, ranking him 14th in school history at that distance.
- In the 200 back, freshman
Jack Galbraith (Vienna, Va.) wrapped up his weekend with a second-place time of 1:49.42.
- The 100 free saw sophomore
Aristides Speres (Rye, N.Y.) earn a silver medal of his own, stopping the clock in 45.93 seconds. Right behind him was senior
Ramzy Ali (Thalwil, Switzerland), who finished third with a time of 46.32 seconds.
- Finishing the night was the 200 breast, and two more lifetime-bests. Freshman
Ryan Bebel (Westfield, N.J.) finished second overall, improving his best by more than a second to stop the clock in 2:01.37. That improves Bebel all the way up to fifth in school history. His classmate
Ian Cobb (Vienna, Va.) improved by more than two seconds from his morning time, swimming 2:04.22 for fourth overall. That pushed Cobb up to 16th all-time at W&M in the 200 breast.
Next up for William & Mary is the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, Feb. 20-23 at the Christiansburg (Va.) Aquatics Center. The Tribe has won the last four conference titles in a row, and will be aiming for its fifth CAA Championship overall.
