WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After controlling possession to a tune of 54-46%, the William & Mary women's soccer team finally broke through with an 84th minute goal to pickup an important 1-0 victory over College of Charleston on Thursday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
With a sizable shot advantage, W&M (5-10-2, 3-4-1 CAA) converted on its 16th shot of the night. Junior
Alex Kuhnle cleared some space from about 20-yards-out in the middle of the pitch. The junior uncorked her shot towards the right post, and off the arm of the Charleston keeper, before careening into the back of the net. The fifth goal of the season for Kuhnle gave the Tribe the lead with a little more than six minutes left.
The Tribe and senior goalkeeper
Katelyn Briguglio blanked Charleston (8-9, 2-6 CAA) for the team's third clean sheet of the season. Briguglio made the only stop she had to on a dangerous attempt in the 70th minute. CofC's Natalie Srgo was racing down the right side of the pitch and launched her attempt towards the top of the frame. Brigulio leaped and punched the ball out over the crossbar, and the Tribe cleared out the ensuing corner.
